Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get involved?

We have a Wander one Sunday per month and a Bagging Party the day before it. It’s never a problem if you can’t come but still want to help out in some way! Everyone is always welcome, so please feel free to invite family and friends!

Please share our videos, events, and other posts through social media to spread the word about Wandering to Nourish Atlanta (WtNA) and our mission to end homelessness.

Another way to help is to educate others about homelessness and raise awareness of a much-needed cause.

We do so much more than just feed a hungry individual, we LOVE and support them. Many homeless people are hurting and have lost hope due to devastating circumstances. We want to feed their souls as much as their stomachs. We are partnering with charities and organizations so that each individual who doesn’t choose to be homeless will get continued support, help with rehabilitation, finding homes and jobs. Our goal is to help individuals recover from homelessness and make progress on the road to becoming a successfully functioning member of society.

We work solely off of donations. Please see below for a list to give you an idea of items that are needed.

If you are unable to come to the Wanders but have donations, please email us at wtnadonations@gmail.com so we can coordinate a pickup/drop-off with you.

If you can’t bring anything to the Wanders and/or Bagging Parties, don’t feel obligated, as it is not mandatory! Just your hands will be help enough ☺.

We appreciate your help and support!

Yes! Parents/guardians, please print, sign and bring the following Minor Waiver form (click here to view) to the Wander.

I'm a teacher, is there a way my students can be involved?

Yes! The students’ parents/guardians will need to sign the Minor Waiver form (click here to view) and bring it to the Wander.

Can I bring family/friends?

Yes.

Where do we meet?

The Wander location varies. Please check out our Facebook Event page for the latest event/Wander details.

This is our first Wander, what should we expect?

Typically, we all meet at a pre-determined area, usually a parking lot, so we can welcome you in, hand you bags of items to handle during the Wander, head out to meet with the homeless, and then we all circle back to the original meeting area. Please sign and bring the following form (click here to view) to the Wander as well. We Wander until the food is gone or everyone is fed! Wanders can last from 2-4 hours, depending on many conditions such as amount of food, weather, route, etc. We travel in one group and do not recommend individuals separate from us.

If you need to leave early or break away from the group, please find a team member in a Red or Green Wanderer t-shirt.

Do we pack food before Wandering?

We hold Bagging Parties the day before the Wanders to organize and pack food and other items. If you bring items to the Wander and not the Bagging Party, depending on the item(s), we can either quickly organize the items to be split into categories or we will hold it for the next Wander.

How many people usually participate in the Wanders?

The number of Wanderers has grown exponentially! We started off with less than 30 people but our latest Wander had over 200+ people!

What happens if there's rain/snow, etc.?

If it is unsafe to drive/walk in, we would cancel/reschedule the Wander to a later date.

Is parking free?

Usually yes, but it depends on the location. Please refer to the individual event page for more details.

Can we suggest points of interest during the Wanders?

We have a pre-determined route via logistics team for safety reasons. If you’d like to suggest locations where future Wanders could be beneficial at, please email us at wtnatlanta@gmail.com.

Can we donate used clothes?

Yes, please wash beforehand. Please do not donate used undergarments.

Should we eat before the Wanders?

Yes.

Are there restroom breaks during the Wanders?

No.

Are there medical personnel at the Wanders?

Yes.

Are there security personnel at the Wanders?

Should we bring water for our own thirst during the Wanders?

What if I want to donate items prior to the Wander that I cannot attend?

Please email wtnadonations@gmail.com so we can coordinate a pick-up/drop-off location with you.
